A black jacket is being wired into a moving night sky. The current version is a partial lapel rig with its battery sitting safely on the table, which is less romantic and much easier to troubleshoot.

Power and heat mapping

Programmable LED nodes, flexible wire, black wool, portable power, heat shielding

An unfinished black jacket with a partial LED pattern, exposed wires, and a battery test on a studio workbench.

OBJECT RECORD

What exists, and what it does.

A black jacket is being wired into a moving night sky. The current version is a partial lapel rig with its battery sitting safely on the table, which is less romantic and much easier to troubleshoot.

The work is in power and heat mapping. Nothing shown here should be mistaken for a finished garment.

PHYSICAL EVIDENCE

Up close, attachment, seams, and wear become visible.

MiniDV wide view, forensic macro, and measured long exposure

First physical test for The Living Constellation.
Second physical test for The Living Constellation.

CURRENT CONSTRUCTION PROBLEM

Keep the battery off the body, the wire flexible at the shoulder, and the surface quiet when the lights are off.

Temporary hand stitching, removable wire channels, low-voltage light tests, and timed heat readings

An unfinished black jacket with a partial LED pattern, exposed wires, and a battery test on a studio workbench.

Light follows the wire. The wire follows the shoulder. The battery does not get to follow either one.
