Universal-Class Technogenic Human

Alistair Finch

Spider Copri

Alistair Finch is eighteen, heir to an Oxfordshire earldom, and capable of inventing technology faster than nations can regulate it. As Spider Copri, he turns machines into a distributed nervous system—protecting people with astonishing precision while testing whether competence can ever justify control.

Character record

Inheritance, interrupted

Alistair grew up among inherited furniture, formal dinners, and adults who treated precedence like engineering. He learned every rule and found most of them ridiculous. His father, Edmund, remains the person whose legal questions can slow him down; his mother, Vivienne, makes him attend, dress, and occasionally behave. The rebellion is real, but so is his loyalty. Beneath the international fear surrounding Spider Copri is an eighteen-year-old who still wants both parents to be proud.

02

Character record

A mind that never fully sleeps

Machina Mind does not make Alistair omniscient. It makes ignorance temporary. He can accelerate subjective thought, sustain vast parallel processes, and divide recovery between alternating cerebral hemispheres. Left-dominant Alistair is exact and optimized; right-dominant Alistair is intuitive, playful, and strange. Full Wake combines both, collapsing impossible problems at a biological price: heat, tremors, aphasia, seizures, hemorrhage, memory damage, and possible neural shutdown.

03

Character record

The Web is built, not inherited

Technogenesis turns a conceived system into working matter: circuits, sensors, drones, medical tools, factories, or machines beyond present science. Spider Copri is therefore not powered armor but a mobile technological seed bank. The Web links machines Alistair has created, modified, or successfully integrated into distributed senses and limbs. Existing technology does not automatically obey him, and a first encounter can still surprise him. Repetition becomes dangerous once Countermeasure begins to learn.

04

Character record

Due process, according to Alistair

COPRI is Alistair’s unauthorized answer to what investigation and public protection should accomplish. Probable Cause reconstructs events; Warrant disables technological targets; Arrest invents tailored containment; Bodycam preserves exhaustive records; Due Process selects the least harmful effective intervention. Blue Light prioritizes rescue, while Red Light escalates force. The evidence may be impeccable and the intrusion illegal. His favorite defense captures both his usefulness and the danger of believing correctness supplies authority.

05

Character record

Blueprints larger than civilization

Alistair can imagine Universal Forges, Dyson Blooms, stellar engines, planet forges, galactic networks, and the World Machine. He cannot deploy them merely by thinking. Their execution requires recursive manufacturing, energy, time, and installed infrastructure that he does not currently possess. The scale graphic is therefore a plan, never an unlocked ladder: a tea-drinking teenager, forgetting meals and teasing the family dogs, carrying blueprints that civilization may never permit him to build.
